As educational leaders, we are facing considerable challenges as the world around
us changes at a rapid rate. Today's students need more advanced skills and greater knowledge in order to succeed in global society. It has
become necessary for teachers to shift from using isolated instructional teaching methods to collaborating with one another and focusing
on preparing students for the real world demands of the 21st Century.
As administrators, we have the unique opportunity to embrace these
changes and challenges to create a common vision which will ensure higher student achievement. I am honored to be representing the secondary
school administrators of the State of Utah as the UASSP President. I have had the wonderful opportunity of meeting, working with, and learning from
many of you.
We, the UASSP Executive Board, are committed to providing you the professional development and resources you need to make a positive difference in
your school. Because of the demand for accountability, we must dedicate ourselves to meeting the educational needs of Utah students. By meeting these
challenges and adapting to the constant changes in education, we are ensuring success for our students and their ability to compete not just
locally and nationally, but globally as well
The best of luck to you as you begin another successful 2007-2008 school year! I am looking forward to this coming year as we collaborate with one
another for the benefit of the students in Utah schools.
